Yeah I read that in the Globe today. It's just dumb that we hafta pay to talk to him and not actually get him for sure. The Globe said, though, that everyone, including the scouts, say that he's the best starting pitcher out of all the free agents in the market this offseason, over Zito, Schmidt, Mulder, all of them. Sounds good to me.

Good job Theo... If you don't sign him too a REAL LONG contract, muuuuuuuuch more than 4 years at 12 million then your dumb. This is either an amazing decision or incredibly stupid. For now, it's incredibly stupid, I mean, this guys never even pitched in the MLB.

He went something like 3-0 with an era in the 1's in the WBC, and went something like 16-7 with an era something like 2.13 maybe for the Seibu Lions. I didn't check, I just feel like I've seen those numbers somewhere about them.

Well yeah... does anyone know if we have to pay them however much now, or over a period of time, like 5 million a year for 10 years?

Actually he was 17-5 with a 2.13 era, and yeah somehow I knew the exact ERA. And in the WBC he was 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA.

The Lions are gonna announce who won the bid tonight before 8. The Sox are rumored to have bid the highest.

I heard there's an oppurtunity for some type of refund if we don't sign him... any truth to that?

if we dont sign him within 30 days he goes back to the lions and we get our money back. then he'll be a free agent next year so ppl can just sign him. also, scott boras is gonna be a idiot and want an only 3 year contract worth about 17-18 mill a year so he can be a free agent when hes 29. that way hed get the most money. the red sox are gonna look to sign him to more of a 5 year deal in the 12-13 mill a year range. look for a 3-5 year deal worth about 15 mill a year
