There are a lot of good players who have already filed for free agency. Some of the big names:
Alfonso Soriano Barry Zito Jason Schmidt Carlos Lee Barry Bonds Julio Lugo Eric Gagne Kerry Wood Jim Edmonds Juan Pierre Mark Mulder Nomar Garciaparra Aramis Ramirez Greg Maddux Cliff Floyd Frank Thomas

I say Bring nomar back to play first, move youk to third, move lowell to second, pedroia to ss.

or you could put nomah back at short, pedroia at second, and leave lowell at third and youk at first

Don't speak to fast. We still have to resign Youk. And I'd rather have Gonzo at short easily than Pedroia. We should, though, move Papelbon to a starter and sign Gagne, he won't be too much money since he hasn't done anything lately. The free agents this year is actually a lot of good players that are very injury-prone aka Kerry Wood. There are a few solid starters out there though, that we could sign and leave Paps at closer.
Then, there's the big question. WHERE WILL BARRY BONDS GO? I'd expect an AL team so he doesn't hafta bat, but either way, he won't have that big of an impact, I think.

Yeah, let's just change EVERYONE'S positions from last year. Also, Lowell is not a legit second baseman. He played nine times in 2005, and that's it. I heard that we could end up with Nomar, but I doubt we will, and if we do, Lowell will probably be dealt. Lowell cannot be depended on to play second for a full year. If we add an infielder, it will most likely be a middle infielder, and don't even tell me Nomar can still play in the middle. He's a good hitter, but is too much of an injury liability, and we're better off with someone else. I think the Sox should go for Gagne. We need a closer, and he won't ask for too much coming off surgery. I don't think he will get injured again this year, but I'm sure the Sox will take that into consideration and he won't end up on the Sox. But mark my words... we should go for him. Also we need to pick up a starter. Papelbon will add stability, but I still think we need a decent late rotation starter. With the Yankees looking into Schmidt AND Zito (I heard they had a good chance at both), we need to keep up.

Also dont forget about Daisuke Matsuzaka. I have heard that he can be a reliable 2nd starter.

Bonds will go to the yankees, im calling it.
and about paps, what solid starters are out there to get? and how do you expect them to put him the the bullpen when they need all that help at starter. remember, its not improved over last year. look what the rotation is right now:
1. curt schilling 2. josh becket 3. tim wakefield 4. lenny dinardo 5. kyle snyder
possibility of lester but i doubt it since he has that disease also matt clement but he sucks
so even if there are quality pitchers out there to get, which i dont think there are and the sox wont get any of them, we need paps in the rotation

Well then look at our bullpen after moving Paps to the rotation.

Ted Lilly is also a free agent. I think he would be a good pickup if hes not asking for too much. With Boomer Wells gone, we need a lefty.

We clearly needy paps in the rotation this year. we went into the year with 7 starters, so thats why he was in the pen. but he shoulda been made a starter in my opinion, and he will be this year. it doesnt matter what our pen will look like, it would be better to have him for 200 IP rather than 80 IP

Nick, Paps was already announced that he's gonna be a starter. Also, Lester said that he could very well be back by Spring Training. Also, Barry Bonds is talking to one team right now: the Giants, although I think he could go to a bad team. Any team will be willing to pay big money for the record 756th homer to be at their park, or at least on their team. Also, the Yankees picked up Sheffield's option, so they don't have any outfield spots left, but I think their DH spot is still open. I think they may get a first baseman if theres one available instead of Giambi, and move Giambi to DH. But yeah, I doubt Bonds will go to the Yankees, they have no need for him, as he isn't too much of a weapon anymore, and they don't need more fan support, with the 756th homer.

I also forgot andy pettitte and roger clemens in there. Clemens has shown interest in joining the sox again and i think he would be a quality starter for a year. Pettitte had an injury plagued season last year but he was very good with the yankees and might be a good risk to take to get a lefty into the staff

I don't even know if Clemens is worth it. He will probably only pitch like five innings per start and we'd have to pay him so much money and give him so many benefits. He probably won't even leave Houston in the first place though because it would be a waste for him to come all the way to Boston for one last year unless he really thought they were gonna win it all.

Cozy Slik didn't want to read the whole thing because it is long, but as for signing Gagne which was mentioned like a mill years ago:
Now that we're finally rid of Foulke who just waived his option, as did we, do you really wanna take a risk with another closer who's on the down spin and will cost us a ton of money regardless?
That said, no I don't really have a better solution for closer besides hoping one of our other young uns steps it up like Hansen, even though he was booty last year.

Lol Coleman I like the effort of your posts, although this is probably the best we'll get out of you, unless you stop being a pussy ass bitch. Ha, in this post you're too lazy too read and in the other one you're too lazy to research. But, it's alright for your first non-general talk post in awhile.
I heard that the Sox might have bid $40 million and won the rights to talk to Daisuke Matsuzaka. Anyone know the truth of this?
