Papi... and Bonds would play left. There's like, 8 square feet to cover out there.

Yeah, but that would take away from the offense. I think Barry is at his maximum in the field, so therefore he can concentrate on hitting, while baaaaaaaaaaarely making it in the field. Papi would have to learn how to play first EVERY DAY, seeing as though he hasn't in... ever. This would take his focus away from hitting. I just think Papi's staying DH and Bonds' staying outfield gives us way more offense than the defense we lose with them in the field.

i think bonds has said he wants to come to the AL to be a DH. and so have every like guy on espn. i just dont think he can play in the field anymore. if that means papi has to play first then i dont want him here.

I don't care. We'd forgive. That's what we do. We hate everyone until we get them, unless they're a Yankee. We love them until we lose them. I won't say he'll be embraced, but he'll be accepted, and happy to win and happy to be pitched to for the first time since 2001. I remember at one point his protection in the lineup was MARQUIS GRISSOM. Papi's a little bit better than Marquis.

I don't know. I'm very undecided about Barry Bonds right now. Imagine him hitting the homer to break the record here in Fenway. But Nick's right. Where are we gonna put those two? If we put Papi at first, then where's Youky? We could put Youky at third and Lowell at second I suppose, but Lowell's very shaky at second. Dustin Pedroia can chill at short and our outfield will be figured out soon.
I would be worried about a decline from Papi's hitting with him having to play field too. Either way, this is a tough decision. David Ortiz and Barry Bonds are literally the two best fits for DH in the league, both terrible fielders, both unstoppable hitters. Both on the same team puts one of them in a tough spot. With David's seniority and veteran-ness here at Boston, I get the feeling Terry would want to keep him at first. You know, like the Jeter-Arod situation in New York for shortstop.

By keeping him at first I assume you mean DH, right?
I don't mind Barry in the field. He IS slow, and can't do the things he obviously used to, but he knows the angles to take, and I think he can be about as sufficient as Manny, without the arm, making him slightly less good. Manny is no speedster, and I think that Barry will work as hard as he physically can (not saying much, but it gets the job done) in the outfield, compared to Manny's 0 effort level. His offensive production won't go down if he plays the outfield, since he always has, while Papi's would go down if he played first.

Update: Peavy has reportedly been offered to Boston in a trade package for Manny Ramirez, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Recommendation: This could be just a rumor, but the newspaper says that Peavy and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez have been offered for Ramirez. Earlier this month, San Diego general manager Kevin Towers said that Peavy would not be traded during his tenure. Team and industry sources, however, say that San Diego is concerned about Peavy's lingering shoulder soreness and would be willing to move him.
I definitely like that if Bonds is still on tap. It won't be a big deal to get Daisakue anymore either.
EDIT: We just signed a lefty specialist from Japan, a reliever. His name is Hideki Okajima.

Oooooo Adrian Gonzalez is amazing. But will that move Youk to outfield? I'd probably prefer that over Bonds. And good... we needed relievers. He's not a closer or anything is he?

Adrian Gonzalez is 24 years old and has an amazing swing, a swing considered a doubles machine. He was on my fantasy team to close the year, which is how I know him. He had 24 homers and 82 rbis this year, and hit .304 with a .362 OBP, in Petco Park, the worst hitting park in the league. He has easy 30 homer, 100 rbi, .300 potential. He played in 156 games last year, and is very durable. He only had 7 errors last year, for a .995 fielding percentage (compare that to Pujols' .996). I'd love to get him, and I don't mind putting Youk in the outfield if we have to. I don't mind that trade if we can't get another closer, and need to get Linebrink. Gonzalez would also be a great player for the future, so I really wouldn't mind that trade.
