I was just watching Sportscenter and here's what they said:
They said that Manny is in talks with the Giants. They didn't say who was in the mix or how much money was involved. They're running low on good players right now so I don't know who'd they'd want involved in the trade. Randy Winn, Omar Vizquel, Armando Benitez. That's about it. They also said that they had tried talking with Cleveland to send him back there, but they couldn't reacha deal and that's out of the question now.
Regarding Matsuzaka, they said that the Sox have offered 8 million a year, but Boras wants 15 million a year. With only two or three weeks left, I get the feeling they won't be reaching an agreement. But the Yankees won't get him so that's fine with me.

Yeah, Cozy doesn't want him for that much money.
He's completely unproven and obviously overpriced...which is a bad combination.
But again, Boras isn't really in a position to make demands because he gets basically nothing if a deal isn't reached, so maybe he'll cave eventually.

I heard that he was most likely going to be gone by the weekend, and Peter Gammons named about 6 teams in the running for him.

Me and Dylan were just talking about it online but, regarding Manny, trading him would just be so dumb. Papi and Manny are arguably the best all time 3-4 hitters in baseball history (Gehrig and Ruth number probably though). If we trade Manny for literally anyone beside like the elite in Pujols, A-Rod, Howard, etc. etc. than we won't have that amazing offense the Red Sox are always known for.
Papi could be intentionally walked every single at bat if we don't have Manny or one of those elite hitters. I don't see why they wouldn't walk arguably the best hitter right now with some idiot like JD Drew or something batting behind him.

Plus, on ESPN they said that his current contract would almost be a bargain on the market today if we were to pick him up for the 2 years 38 million we owe him. He isn't as much of a team cancer as A-Rod or someone like him is. Although he says he is unhappy here, when he is here, he seems to make the best of it.

i dont want to trade him, but if we get two good pitchers id do it. hitting doesnt win championships. pitching wins. especially after last year with what happened with our pitching. plus jd drew isnt that bad either. hes a very solid hitter ad even if they do walk him every time then it will come back to bite them up the but. he will still dominate

Yeah, but he will hurt Papi's production alot, because he is obviously nothing close to Manny.

ON SPORTSCENTER STEVE PHILLIPS SAID THERES A SOLID CHANCE BARRY BONDS COULD TAKE MANNY'S SPOT IF HE'S TRADED. I would love that signing. He is still productive, and imagine: he'll have to be pitched to if we put Papi behind him. If he is walked, Papi will get alot of RBI oppurtunities. I can't imagine that Bonds would be protecting Papi, because obviously Bonds walks more than him, so putting him behind would be a somewhat waste, although either combination really works
