Could go either way, with Pujols carrying his team all the way to the World Series victory I gave him the big edge, but you could also argue the other way. Howard led the league in homers and Pujols by 9. He led the poor Phillies, who basically gave up on the season halfway through (Abreu, Lidle-rip) but he still got them in the playoff chase. I would make one of these for the AL but we'd all vote for Papi so what's the point.

howies numbers are too large and in charge to ignore, and he is so much cooler. also he almost got his team into the playoffs, so its not like his team sucked. pujols is a mow, vote for how for mvp

my vote is for pujols because without him they would not have made it to the WS. Rolen and Edmonds were inconsistant and he had 49 homers and 137 rbis which are great and he was out for a little time during may.

If the Cardinals didn't win the world series I wouldn't have voted for Pujols. But they did, and he was obviously the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, aka the definition. I mean, without him, the team would be David Eckstein, some vag batting second, Scott Rolen, and Jim Edmonds, for the first four. Not a world series lineup.

They didn't even make the plays. Cardinals made the plays, and won the Ship.

even though it does i dont think that should play a part, bc haward was clearly the better player and pujols didnt get the cards to the playofss by himself

Pujols also won the gold glove.

it also depends on your definition of MVP because some writers vote for the best player and some vote for "Most Valuable" they need to somehow come up wiht a system because A-rod won MVP a few years back on the worst team in the AL west so he clearly wasnt valuable to the team because they didnt go anywhere

The MVP is voted for before the World Series, just not announced, so Pujols' winning the World Series and the Cards not having a World Series lineup without him is irrelevant. This is why I voted for Howard. Down the stretch Pujols made one key hit, and the Cards almost lost. After the Phils essentially gave up, he led his team into the playoff chase with big hits left and right throughout September. This is why he's my MVP.

But they didn't make the playoffs so it doesnt matter so i dont see how he is MOST VALUABLE

Because he made his lineup better by himself than Pujols did by himself, in my opinion.

Jimmy Rollins was better than David Eckstein. Pat Burrell wasn't that awful, compared to Edmonds, who was so inconsistent and always injured. And Chase Utley was just nasty and amazing. He had a mill game hit-streak. He was muuuuuuuuch better than Scott Rolen. Aaron Rowand, when he played, was always a solid bat. Rollins, Burrell, and Utley are better tahn Eckstein, Rolen, and Edmonds, this year at least. You could maybe make a tiny argument for Yadier Molina, but only 49 RBI's doesn't help out much. Pujols' lineup was not that much potent that he shouldn't be MVP when he was part of the world series champions, and the most valuable on it.

I had both Howard and Pujols on my fantasy so i followed them the whole year and heres my opinion: Howard had a mediocre beginning of the year and didnt heat it up until after the allstar break. He was hitting a homer a game down the stretch and would have about 15 ribies every week. He carried the Phillies down the stretch and almost led them to the wild card. This was all without Abreu. I think that once Abreu was traded, Howard stepped up and became a leader. Pujols was very hot at the start of the year but once he got injured on that foul ball, he just wasnt the same. He did really well in the playoffs, but that doesnt count towards the voting. While Pujols had a monster year, I just dont think he was as much of a leader as Howard.
