i don't think we should get either of them. Here's why:
1. I saw on a show on espn that alfonso won't come close to the numbers he got last year, that he overachieved bc he's in a contract year. They compared him to Adrian Beltre. He will ask for too much
2. Julio Lugo is not worth that.
3. I'm willing to put Dustin Pedroia in at one of those positions.
Do we still have alex Gonzalez?

I'm not sure about Alex Gonzalez, but I definitely heard on ESPN at one point that we have a small chance to get both of them, so thats why i put that. And yeah, obviously julio lugo isn't worth that, but if we come down to Alex Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia as our starting middle infielders, I think we have to do it. Lugo's solid, and alot of teams will want him, so if we need him, we may have to pay that much.
Alfonso goes 30-30 every year. If we get him, I'm sure he'll get at least 30 homers. I don't expect 50 home runs, but 35 homers and at least 20 steals (or possibly 30, but the Red Sox never steal) I think are a possibility, and worth 14,15,16 million a year. I'm not sure his asking price, but I'd pay that much.

I think getting alsonso would be great for the sox. He'd be happy going back to second base and he'd be playing for winning team. The sox lineup would be nasty though with him leading off papi third and manny cleanup. Also I think that he was a pretty good feilding second baseman. But I have a feeling that the yankees will just rediculously overspend for him.

I know that gonzo is a free agent but I dont know if hes comin back. If we have the chance to bring him back, I definately think we should. I wouldnt mind getting lugo but I dont wanna spend 52 million on him. I also think that we should get alfonso because he is a terrible fielder and he would be way too much money. He is amazing offensively but he wouldnt steal for us because francona is a tootie.
i just think that we should stick pedroia at 2nd and resign gonzo

alfonso was horrendous, i think he actually had the worst fielding percentage in the league for second basemen or something. Besides hes gonna tank next year at the plate

It depends on your definition of tank. If allowed to run, he should go 35-35, but he'll probly go more like 35-20. Yes, it is a "tank", but 35-20 is still amazing. His defense could use work, but I think that what he gives in offense outweighs anything he loses with defense.

Alex Gonzalez was signed by the Reds, and it's looking like Pedroia is definitely starting next year at either position.
